What's New At Rotary Sunrise
At the July 12, 2022 breakfast meeting, outgoing club president Ken Bechard said goodbye to last year and hello to the new.
Ken was presented with an Imagine Rotary tie by Assistant District Governor Ken Corlett, and Audrey Chevalier was presented with an Imagine Rotary scarf. The Imagine Rotary campaign commemorates incoming Rotary International president Jennifer Jones historic achievement by becoming the first female RI president.
As part of the Sunflowers for Ukraine initiative, project chair Paul Roy arranged to have a variety of sunflowers planted at Veterans Tribute Garden on Saturday, May 21.
Leslie Waddell, caretaker of Veterans Tribute Garden (2nd from right) is flanked by Sunrise Rotarians Ruth Howell, Roger McRae and John Lawrence. All smiles as we got the job done right before a storm came through to water our seeds.
The Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise is pleased to introduce Sunflowers for Ukraine, a fundraiser to directly assist the humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.
The project will focus of the distribution of 2000 packets of Sunflower Seeds and a donation of $5.00 each for a goal of $10,000 raised for humanitarian projects in Ukraine.
The Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise is pleased and honoured to announce Mr. Bruce Cockburn has been presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award for Community Service.
Mr. Bruce Cockburn is awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Community Award by Sunrise Rotarians Glenn Smith, John Schinkel and president Ken Bechard.
Chatham Sunrise Rotarian Audrey Chevalier receives the prestigious Rotary Foundation Major Donor Award.
President Ken's Swan 🦢 Song: On July 6th Chatham Sunrise Rotary filled up the little picnic shelter at Thames Grove Conservation Area with our Rotary family, including special guests PDG Barry Fraser, Tilbury Rotarian Dave McGuire, Kim Pierce and Executive Secretary Beth Walters.
The 6 Chatham-Kent Rotary clubs banded together to sponsor CMHA Lambton-Kent's virtual Ride Don't Hide event for mental health. Currently Dresden, Chatham, Chatham Sunrise, and Tilbury are all duking it out for donation and fitness supremacy! Traditionally this event is a one day event taking place in Rondeau Park, but due to COVID-19, it is now a month long event at your own pace. Participants track their activity on a smartphone app, and the activity can be anything that is good for a person's mental health, whether it be knitting, gardening, reading a book or going for a walk.
Currently we have a 9 person team made up of Rotarians and friends of Rotary, and have raised $1000 plus 5,506 minutes of activity! (Each participant is encouraged to do 330 minutes of activity). Join us or support us!
