Please help us celebrate the development of Ukraine Rotary Park by attending the grand opening on Saturday, August 27 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. The park is located at the corner of Victoria and Grand Avenue.

The tribute park has been adorned with berms, sunflowers, benches and flagpoles flying both Canadian and Ukrainian flags and is ready for public use.

Ukraine Rotary Park is the result of a collaborative effort between property owner Community Living, represented by Ron Coristine, and the Sunrise Rotary club. Sunrise Rotarian Paul Roy is the project chair and provided the vision for the park. Other major contributors to the project include Earthworks Garden Center, W.B. Miller Cabinets and Furniture, Impact Graphics & Signs, and Canadian Tire.

Sunrise Rotary began accepting donations for packets of Ukrainian Sunflower seeds in the spring. The seeds were donated to the club by Veseys Seeds. We were able to raise $40,000 from this effort with the help of major donors Andre Cartier, Lance Babcock, Dave Baute, and Sunrise Rotarian Pierre Beaumier. We have donated the money to Rotary International’s ShelterBox program specifically targeting humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine.

Please join us for the grand opening where we will officially open the park, thank our contributors, and present ShelterBox with a $40,000 cheque. We’ll have some coffee and snacks for those in attendance.

Special thanks to all the Rotarians who put in the hard work to get this project done. Thank you!
