Club Business:

Bonny would like everyone to mark May 5 on their calendars for the GSE reception for the inbound Japan team. She has booked the Portuguese Hall and will be inviting all the Chatham-Kent Rotary clubs to attend.

Jim lead the meeting on Blake’s absence. He had a very enjoyable weekend with John and Maggie for Maggie’s birthday. He also had brunch at Greg’s house.

There was a correction from last weeks Birthdays and Anniversaries – Paula celebrated her club anniversary on January 30 – not her birthday.

Doug would like a number on how many tickets have been sold for Mardi Gras.  Money can be given to Bonny. Items are coming in nicely. Please let him know if you have anything you would like to give. Our goal is to sell 120 tickets and we are about half way there.   Click here for Mardi Gras info.   Click here to see Auction Items.

Jim passed the hat around for donations to send with Kim and Ruth – we collected $239!

Sponsorship packages for Ribfest are being printed.  There is a meeting next Wednesday.

The work date for Roses is April 7 with March 2 being the launch day.

The Rotary Gala in Dearborn is on February 18

Don Shropshire of the municipality will be speaking at next weeks meeting about the bike rack program.  Please invite guests to attend.

Keith spoke about Shelter boxes. He is the appointed ambassador for our area and would like to visit all Chatham-Kent clubs to speak on the subject.  It is our goal to buy 25 boxes between all the clubs, so far we have 18 (Chatham -7, Thamesville – 1, Blenheim – 2, Tilbury – 8). To date 5000 have been shipped to Haiti, 5000 are being packed, and 3000 are on the way.  The goal is to send 30 000!

Kim noted that Vancouver will allow you to give monthly donations.  You can also give gift donations for those hard to buy for people in your life.

 Guest Speaker - Kim Isles:

Doug introduced Kim Iles from Choices for Wellness.  Kim was very happy to come to Rotary and talk – she learned a lot about what Rotary does during her visit.

She has been in the health industry for 17 years and noted that is was the death of her mother and father from preventable diseases that started her along the path to wellness.  She soon after bought a book entitled “Prescription for Nutritional Healing” and made dietary changes and began to choose natural ways to deal with health problems.

Her passion is doing her radio shows – CFCO Saturdays @ 7 a.m. and CKXS Tuesdays @ 11 a.m.

Everyone needs to empower themselves to take care of their bodies! It is important to look after your health before the disease sets in. Supplements are a good way to manage your health and are great preventative measure!

Kim spoke of the following acronym:

W        water

A         air

F          food

L          light

Water - 70% of our bodies are water and it is important to our health!  Kim spoke of an initiative they are doing at the store in which $1 from every 5 gallon sale will go towards Mission: Water for Life.  Through another initiative and with the help of her 80 year old aunt who is baking butter tarts for the cause they have raised $1500 so far!

Air – There is a lot of disease in Chatham-Kent, including heart disease, lung disease, and asthma.  Geographically we have some of the poorest air quality in the world!  We cannot control our air quality but we can control the quality of air in our own homes and they now have air filters that remove 97% of air born pathogens!

Kim went on to talk about Glutathione which produces energy inside our cells.  It is a master detoxifier and anti oxidant protecting the body from free radical damage.  During our 20s our bodies have a high quantity of glutathione but its levels decrease with age.  Though it is important to raise your levels there is no drug that will do so – your body must raise it on its own and with the help of a product developed by Dr. Robert Kellar it is possible to do this!  Raising your levels of glutathione will slow the aging process and it is possible to reverse disease with the supplements!

Bottom line… Be grateful for your health, look after yourself, and choose to be well!
