Laurie needs 2 more families.  Roger supported Laurie in offering that experiences with these students are such a fantastic opportunity.  It really opens the world for the family & for the student. Please give serious consideration to being a Host – Laurie can help with your questions.

Guest Speaker:     Laurie Laprise

Greg Kett introduced our Speaker today, Laurie Laprise, house caterer in Lawson Hall, with her Head Chef, Aaron Montgomery.

They are currently open for breakfast & lunch weekdays (but have planned to stop this as of June 1). Friday night is a Dinner crowd, Saturdays are banquets & Sunday is Brunch.    She hosts a number of businesses for weekday meetings as well as off-site services for the French School Board, & some breakfast/lunch programs in schools.

The hall can hold up to 300 people, where the Legion provides the bar service, if needed.  Parking is ample & the building is accessible.  She offers free wireless internet, some acoustic equipment like a microphone & a projection screen.  Most though bring their own projection equipment.

Sheila thanked Laurie & Aaron for their hospitality today.   A book for the Literary Angels program with the Chatham Library was signed.

Thought of the Day:

The human animal differs from others of the animal kingdom in that it is normally progressive.
The only thing that can hold the advance of the human animal long in check is precedent.

Paul Harris Message to the 1930 RI Convention Chicago, IL

SPECIAL  NOTICE:

May 25, we will be meeting at Active Lifestyle Center on Merritt

(where we gathered for Mardi Gras)

Breakfast will be served starting at 7:15am.  Our Host Site will be the Program for the Day

There has been some discussion amongst some members about seeking another venue for our weekly meetings.  These sites have graciously agreed to our visit as an opportunity for us to see what other venues are available.

There has been recent dissatisfaction with service at Smitty’s & that has been brought to owner, Gina’s attention.

Next week we will visit another site with no commitment at this time & where a similar setting of time & foods can be enjoyed.

There will be an emailed survey that follows where the Board will appreciate your honest & anonymous (if you wish) feedback.

June 1 is Club Assembly where the Board hopes that we may arrive at some decision.

We ask that all members really try to attend again next week. May 25 is the Tuesday after a long weekend but scheduling otherwise was going to be difficult & we couldn’t avoid it.

We’re hoping to see as many members as can make it out.
