Guest Speaker: - ADG Dave McGuire

Bonny introduced our Guest today, Dave McGuire our Club’s Assistant District Governor

Dave spoke for a few minutes about the Foundation, a great part of Rotary. Without it, there would be no Rotary.
Foundation money is used to make the world a better place – water wells, schools & education, water filters, to name a few of the more well-known projects, & polio eradication.

Dave was honoured to share in presentations of Paul Harris awards to

Club member Ivan Katzman

Past President & Member Jean Baker (A Paul Harris +2)

And to Past President Jim Nash.

Paul Harris Fellow recognition is named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with 3 business associates in Chicago in 1905. The PH Fellows presentation was established in his honour in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of US$1000 to the humanitarian and educational programs for the Rotary Foundation.
“In appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations between peoples of the world.”

We congratulate our newest Paul Harris Fellows, Ivan & Jim.

There are a variety of ways for giving to the Foundation & for how the funds are dispersed.
Matching Grants at the District Level – we have received for babies & Books and Rotary Trail development.
Global Matching grants for projects on an International basis, like Kim & Linda’s trip to the Dominican
GSE, changing to Vocational Exchange – these team members return & become great Rotarians, right, Kim?
Ambassadorial Scholars – work & study for friendship & peace resolution around the world
End Polio Now – like our signature Ribfest event, this belongs to Rotary International involving many partners to make it work (also like our Ribfest!).
Annual Funds (also known as Annual Program) is the hoped $100 a Year from Every Rotarian. You donate & collect points towards gaining a Paul Harris. Tax receipts are issued. You can use the bottom line of your Quarterly Billings’ notice for these donations.
Permanent Fund donors are giving's after death.
There are 2 members in our Club who are Paul Harris Society members, where they have committed to give $1000 a year.
Sustaining Members was recently introduced, in Rotary’s Centennial year, for giving's at $100 a year.

Jean thanked Dave for his message today. It’s important to Rotary that you consider giving what you can, when you can.
“Gruff the Grump” was signed by Dave for the Literary Angels program at the Public Library.
