Welcome from President Blake!

 Visitors and Guests:

Greetings & welcome to our guests –

        John Burgess                                           Gord                                                 Heather

 Happy Bucks:

Audrey is excited to be leaving April 11 for 2 weeks in Turkey, on the Rotary Friendship Exchange Team. They will be seeing the District in Turkey that was recently here.

John L has a nice party on Thursday – all his family came home.
Lorna & John head to New York City next wk & will be missing Roses
                                                                             (that’s a “not happy buck”).

Greg refereed at last weekend’s Hockey Day of Champs. He was on for the puck drop of the final Bantam game & was a great gentleman assisting the Dropper, our own Mary Frances!

Paul was happy to attend the Chamber’s event last week too. A lovely
event, very well done & great to hear John’s exceptional Acceptance Speech!

 50/50 Draw:

John B pulled Sheila’s ticket & Sheila pulled a Joker!
Wow!  $190 “take home today”!

Club Assembly:

Update from the Board of Directors on recent spending decisions –

  • Ringette 2010-11 season, for a house league team
  • Scott Violet of CKSS will be attending Adventure in Citizenship Conference in Ottawa
  • RYLA – we have 3 Interact & 3 non-Interact students registering
  • $250 went to partner with the Winnipeg Rotary Club for a school in Afghanistan
  • Shelterbox total at 2 now

Mardi Gras is looking to net +$5000

Doug attended PETS in Sarnia last weekend & has began his Club Planning already

Environment Update:    Paul spoke about the recent hours spent on the Grand Ave beds. Daffodils are up & coming but so is the crab grass.  Much thanks to Jane Katzman, Ruth Howell & David Sarson.   18 beds are cleaned up.

Inbound Student Exchange:    Laurie has stepped in to cover for Linda Goldsmith.  She has some potential students already.  A counselor is arranged & now looking for 3 host families.

Roses for Rotary:   Terra reminded us (if we did forget) that we are in the middle of Roses campaign. We are optimistic to hit our target of 1600 dz.   With 505 on Monday night & a lot of members without any orders in, we are anticipating a few busy days. Keep selling. Keep talking about Roses.   Use the desk at the Comfort Inn to deliver your orders.   We will be asking delivery teams to take extras along.   A signup sheet for Workday was passed.   Food for morning breakfast & sandwiches for lunch will be available.   Tuesday Apr 6 around 3pm we need hands to lift the pails off the truck. And then April 7, anytime after 7:15am, come in.  Bring your spouse, friends, aunts & kids.  All hands on deck! The 1st 110 dz will leave for Union Gas by 7:45am.  Assembly will be done likely by 10:30am.  Remember to bring your containers for carrying.

Ribfest:   Matt showed the most recent proposed park plan.    We’ll gain in capacity, save on security, and have greater space for the venders (more income for us) & a bigger space for the Kids Zone.   Revised fencing will alleviate the families in the licensed area.

Hoping for more revenues from the pigs at the Entrances & an extended license in the tents until 11pm.

There are no grants coming our way this year.   So we must be aggressive & work on our contacts for sponsorships. There are cuts to many expenses already (entertainment, security, tent rentals, fencing & generators for lighting)

In true Nash fashion, “let’s get on the bus, folks & start out there asking.   We have great leadership with our Rotarian Ribbers.   Let’s rally together, get on to having fun & being creative.”

April 15 in the local Media Launch.   Armouries, 11:30am – 130pm

The Headliner will be announced.  A great chance to potential sponsors to attend.

All members are welcome.
