Dave Van Kestern read
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant
Colonel John McCrae, MD
(1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders
Fields the poppies blow
Between the
crosses row on row,
That mark our
place; and in the sky
The larks,
still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard
amid the guns below.
We are the
Dead. Short days ago
We lived,
felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and
were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders
fields.
Take up our
quarrel with the foe:
To you from
failing hands we throw
The torch; be
yours to hold it high.
If ye break
faith with us who die
We shall not
sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders
fields.

A moment of silence was
observed in honour of all
those who have fallen in
wars serving our country

Group Study Exchange: |

GSE
to Japan has returned!
Heather spoke about her
October visit to District
2550, about 1 hour north of
Tokyo. They received the
red carpet treatment, an
amazing experience. Her
first host was a Buddhist
priest & his family. The
team was pleased to do their
presentations in Japanese.
And Heather looks forward to
returning with her team to
do a more formal
Presentation & to bring in
the exchange banners that
she has received. She
thanked the Club for
sponsoring her – next to
being married & having
children, it was the best
experience of her life!

Thought for the Day: |
|
The human animal differs
from others of the animal
kingdom in that it is
normally progressive. The
only thing that can hold the
advance of the human animal
long in check is precedent.
