 Club Business:

  • The Sadlers have sent a note of thanks from Candice & Mya, Steve & Bev.
  • The Goodfellows have invited 2 of us to their Annual Membership Meeting.  Nov 5 at St Joseph’s Auditorium.  Begins at 5:30, short meeting, dinner & program including recognition awards.    They are looking for Volunteer Assistance & participation in their “No Child Without a Christmas”.   See Blake if interested in going.
  • From the Board Mtg, we ask that our Membership consider giving to a Toy Drive for the Goodfellows.  If we could focus on toys for Babies & for boys, ages 8-12, it seems there is a lack there in their Collections, we’re told. Nov 10 is planned Start Date.
  • We wish Beth a speedy recovery from a broken wrist!
  • Paul Roy’s Induction to the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame is planned for Nov 8.  Contact Blake or Paul Haslip if you’d like to attend.  This will be a not-to-be-missed event for one of our Charter Members.  A real honour, Paul!
  • November is Rotary Awareness month – Blake is looking for Committee Volunteers to initiate a “Pounds for Polio” weight loss & fitness opportunity. Emily from Performance Health & Fitness is interested in providing guidance (her grandfather was stricken with polio at a young age.)  Harry stepped up with a $10 a pound pledge for Blake!    Watch for details coming up soon!
  • Jim provided a Mardi Gras committee update – Venue searching is underway, tentative date Friday, Feb 19, 2010. Entertainment booking is underway, auction items are needed. Ticket sellers are welcome.   Setting a budget for decorations, hall rental, bar service & a similar meal to last year.
  • Ribfest Steering Committee meets this Wednesday, October 28.  4:30pm at Jim’s Enviroshake Boardroom.

Classification:   Aaron Goodchild

Today is Aaron Goodchild’s Classification.  Blake introduced Aaron, our youngest member (yeah for Youth!), sponsored by Audrey Chevalier. Aaron hails from Courtice, Ontario, a small bedroom community east of Toronto (west of Bowmanville & east of Oshawa, actually), currently home of the business producing the 2010 Olympic Torch.

He’s gone to a mix of schools – Durham College for Business Admin & Accounting (& he’ll tell you that he hated it!). The University of Ontario (new in 2003), studying Commerce & currently the only laptop based-university.  And he’s currently studying with the Canadian Securities Institute, to gain his Certified Financial Planners designation.

Aaron’s spends his leisure time with a camera around his neck. Most recently he’s worked at Rockstock, with Favourite Drive for a CD cover & Collective Soul & Marianas Trench.

Aaron’s currently working as an Account Manager with TD Bank having taken positions in Jasper Alberta, Bowmanville & now Chatham.

Sheila thanked Aaron for doing his Classification for us today.   We’re thankful that Aaron chose Chatham Sunrise & to hear all about Aaron today!

Thought of the Day:

“He who tries to find the good in others will be rewarded for others will surely find the good in him. Of all of earth’s sad & lonesome creatures, the most hopeless is he who loves not his fellow men.”
