Good morning from President Blake! It’s the last day of summer – see you real soon for Fall!

 Visitors and Guests:

Kimberley, our exchange from Taiwan & Laurie’s son Nicholas.

 Happy Birthday:

Happy Birthday to Kimberly!  Chris’s wife graciously helped with cupcakes for the crowd & we all wished her a very Happy Day!

Happy Bucks:

  • Kim is happy that the Japan GSE sendoff party went well
  • Jim has a Buck but he’s going to keep us in suspense until the end of the Mtg.
  • Ashley was honoured to be a Judge at the Ridge House Museums’ Dessert Contest – one of our own members, Greg Kett, placed a very respectful 3rd place!
  • Jim S is happy that he’s learned to crush 12 boxes of home-grown grapes, with his father-in-law’s direction.

50/50:

Back to a zero balance, as Ivan pulled the Joker last week.   We start anew (all cards below 8 have been pulled out of the Desk – so if you win, you can at least pay for your Breakfast!).   Roger K was lucky for $9 today.

Club Business:

  • Financials were circulated for a proposed dues’ increase -- in order to meet current expenses of the Club.  (If you wish a copy of the spreadsheet, then please email Sheila.)    Quarterly dues will be $74 now plus $8 breakfast charges. (Reminder that Smittys is charging us $8.09 per meal now.)Passed by show of hands with the Membership.  To take effect for the end of the 1st quarter billing.

Ribfest Reporting for Club Assembly:
Jim led the discussions of a variety of comments.  Each member of the Steering Committee has recorded their comments & observations (negatives & positives), for this past year & for next years’ events.
Financials were circulated & discussed.
Bonny’s in the middle of finalizing the Report for the Celebrate Ontario Grant.  Its success could mean another $3000 in income.   Then we will begin the process of applying for a 2nd year.  Yes, there will be a 2nd year!   We’ll be able to generate more funds thru being better organized, through working responsibly through a budget process & a better sense of timing.  We need to get started, like now!

Some final comments from Mark (who was unable to join us today)

  • Increase revenues with more ribbers, higher fees for secondary & food vendors
  • Budget, budget, budget
  • Improve the Green – receptacles, promote all materials as they are biodegradable & compostable
  • Start now on Sponsorships – leverage the success of July 09 into seed money for 2010
  • Improve licensing to cover the food service for minors after 8pm. Extend the refreshments licenses to last another hour.
  • Employers Edge is already wanting to be on board for 2010 & the Corporate Afternoon
  • Thank you to Tammy Chouinard & CK Child for a very good first KidsZone
  • Thank you to Terra for a terrific organization of the volunteers
  • Thank you to Bonny for all the grant application work & the organizing of the Entertainment
  • Thank you to John Schinkel & his donation of the BBQ – He’s also secured a person who will organize & run the King of the Cue
  • Thank you to Aaron & his friend who have provided a photographer’s Archives for us – what a great resource for web site & advertising

There are many activities for more hands to come on board – i.e. someone to run the Fishing Derby, the Egg Drop, a Classic Car show, etc, etc. Think about where you might fit in & who you’d like to share a job with.
These comments & the others from the Steering Committee are available by request (send an email) to Sheila.
July 9,10 & 11, 2010 – see you in the Park!   Our enthusiasm led to such a great success – applaud yourselves for a job well done!

The best Happy Buck news --- Mark & Matt will return as Co-Chairs in 2010!

Thought of the Day:

“Every time you meet a situation, though you think at the time it is an impossibility & you go through the tortures of the damned, once you have met it & lived through it, you will find that forever after you are freer that you were before.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
