Kim Pierce was happy to attend the District meeting.

Blake was happy that the Roast for Jim Nash on Friday was a success. Tweed jackets and blue jeans were the fashion statement of the night. Greg provided a humorous monologue highlighting Past President Jim’s talents. Greg’s speech was “ WONDERFUL”

Bonnie was pleased to report that of the FIVE outbound students for our district, TWO were from our club.

Happy Birthday Jackie Bray August 21st.

Club Business:

Judy Garver District Governor will speak to our club on September  15th. It would be nice to have a great attendance that day.

Host families: Blake made a plea for 2 more host families. Linda Goldsmith is having surgery then Chemotherapy and radiation treatment for cancer. She would like to have host families in place. Contact Linda at 519-352-5038 if you are interested. It is crucial that this be attended to ASAP and keep in mind, the host family does not have to be associated with Rotary, so please spread the word. It is an opportunity to to expand  friendships and reach out to others.

Bingo’s: the next bingo is Monday September 7th at 9:30 at night. 2 or 3 other individuals are needed.

Thank you to Ivan Katzman our roving photographer in Steve Sadler’s absence.

Our newest exchange student, Kim Chen, presented a banner from Taiwan to our Sunrise Club

Guest Speaker:

Laurie Zimmer welcomed our guest speaker Reg Cousineau.

Reg is a business coach and trainer. He was a former Rotarian in Calgary and Kelowna. He provided a handout on how we can increase our business through training. His company is called Paragon.

He emphasized that information is our business and that is something we continually need to share.

He stressed businesses need to look at the top 20% of their customers and focus of them.

People in the work place need to be Ambassadors for their workplace.

Businesses need to look at what they have to do to get people to come back more often.

The rest of the information was available in the handout.

John Schinkel thanked Reg and presented a book to the library in his name.
