      Good morning from  President Blake!

 Visitors and Guests:

        Gord Campbell & Ruth Howell!

 Happy Bucks:

Jim Steele is happy to back to Rotary, his 1st since Ribfest.   He shared his father-in-law’s story about hoping for Puccini but got David Wilcox instead – for just 15 minutes!

50/50 Draw:

Ruth had the honour of drawing a winning ticket and Bill had a chance for the pot but got only $7!

 Birthdays and Anniversaries:

Happy Birthday to Linda Goldsmith!

Club Assembly:

Ribfest accounts are expecting a modest profit. But there’s more to be gained – a huge boost for our Club & our members. Generating lots of enthusiasm & many intangible benefits for Rotary in the community.

Committee signups – please indicate your interest and where you want to fit in Rotary. (see draft outline further down in the newsletter)

Fours fundraisers, mainly Sportsmen Weekend, Mardi Gras, Roses for Rotary, & Ribfest.

Also includes Bingo shifts. Jackie mentioned that we’ve been advised to arrive 1 hr & 15 mins ahead of the scheduled start time.    The dates are posted on the Sunriser & Jackie’s email is there for signups.    Thanks to Ashley, Nicole, Greg & Bonny for the last one.

Rotary River Ride is being re-examined.  Discussion to offer the venue on Saturday to attract more families, to provide a Bicycle Safety clinic for the kids, to extend & offer the route over 2 distances & to try pledge sheets vs donations.

Environment projects – some discussion on maintenance for the beds & watering (or lack of) for the area by the Municipality.  This is one of the features of our strategic plan; where we have evolved from garbage pickup to the Grand Ave Daffodil flowers & the Carolinian Forest by the College.

Weekly program – will be Chaired by John Schinkel, assisted by Paula.  Anyone is welcome to forward contacts for potential speakers.

Member Orientation needs a focus & Audrey is willing to work on this task with a Chair.

There’s a Committee List posted following this message – please take a moment & consider where you wish to find your name.  People at today’s meeting took a moment & added their names. It would be appreciated if all took a glance.   Some committees need Chairs yet & some need people to work with the Chair.

Ask if you need clarification
Let Blake or Sheila know where you would be placed.

Rotary is about “Service above self” – where will you serve?

Thought of the Day:

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
