Do you know the first signs
of a stroke? |
|
Southwestern Ontario Stroke
Strategy:
Laurie Zimmer a
registered nurse for 25
years is the Coordinator for
the Chatham-Kent District
Stroke Center . Laurie
explained how the district
stroke center coordinates
and delivers care. It is
based on national and
provincial standards. There
have been many changes to
the treatment and prevention
of strokes. There have been
new advances with the
introduction of TPA a clot
busting drug. There also is
an increased emphasis on
education of healthy
lifestyle changes and
symptoms of stroke. The
local stroke center works
with various community
agencies as well as London
and Windsor hospitals.

Roger McRae thanked Laurie
and explained our
traditional thank you ,
which is done by adding a
book to the library under
the "Literary Angels
Program" in honour of the
