Good morning from Jim!

 Visitors and Guests:

   Mary-Frances  Kluka, guest of Bonny’s

 Happy Bucks:

Jackie tells us that Camillo, an exchange Student from Italy will be returning tour area & hopes to visit the Club on the Tuesday after Easter.

Jean saw her daughter Meagan on a web cam from Brazil!   She’s visited her host club – there are 20 members, the President is 28 yrs old & no one speaks English!

Doug is taking a holiday from his holiday – they’re skiing in Whistler next week but taking their 18 yr old……

 50/50 Draw:

UNBELIEVABLE!    John’s ticket was pulled & he drew the JOKER!   $32 – again!

Club Business:

Doug reports that Mardi Gras is looking like it will net $1800. A donation is expected from Smitty’s yet.     There are a few items still outstanding for payment.  If you could settle with Doug, then he will be able to announce a final tally.   A very fun evening was enjoyed by all those present.  The Committee will consider returning the celebration to the Tuesday of Mardi Gras, to get more of our members hopefully out next year.

Roses – Sheila spoke on behalf of Terra who’s away for a week’s vacation.  Please contact Sheila or Bonny if you need any help with anything – sales forms, delivery advice,,,,,,.   To confirm from our Launch Date, the ROSES are coming from Ecuador.  No Canadian growers that are reliable are available. Please share your routes & tell us when you have a sale off your area.  People like Sheila & Blake go to the outlying areas & will gladly help, if it means a sale – one step closer to 1500 dz!

Greg’s mentioned a couple leads to selling Roses at Sobey’s on the weekend (read your emails for further details)   & at the LCBO on April 1.   A second step closer to 1500 dz!

Help’s needed for the Business After Hours, Mar 18, hosted at Big Shots on King.  We are an Evening Sponsor.   We’ll be selling ROSES & memberships & doing RIBFEST promo!

Next week is Club Assembly – pls have your Committee’s report ready.

Bonny mentioned that she has a 2nd application now for the GSE to Japan this fall.

Jim tells us that Rotary Sunrise has been asked to present our Babies & Books at a Plenary Session at the District Conference in May.  Kudos to us!

RYLA plans are beginning – if you know any young person, details available at  www.rotary6380.org

Bingo on March 22 – needs workers!  Pls see Jackie!   5pm arrival for 6 & 7pm bingo.

Happy Birthday to Keith H.

 President Jim Speaks:

In the absence of our planned speaker today (we have been unable to reach Justine Masterson, our outbound exchange student to France last year), Jim spoke about his Visioning in July & gave a Report Card for the Sunrisers present.

His goals were to increase our visibility in the Community, recruit new members, target a signature event (from the Club’s own Visioning process) and to have fun!    It’s more than just attending a Breakfast Club – it’s about being a Rotarian.   It’s about Service Above Self.

It’s so good to see the traditional members & the new members who have joined us – stepping up to the plate.  They are great people who want to be a part of Rotary & what it’s all about.

The International Family of Rotary with its themes for children, polio eradication, and water relief are all honorable.  But we have to be a Club too with our own challenges & our strengths.

Where are we in our Report Card?    We are more visible.   We have new members who energize us!  And we are well on our way with our Signature Event.   That fun part – yes, we’re doing that too. You would have seen it at Mardi Gras!

We’re on track, folks.  Keep up the momentum & keep moving in the right direction.  Thank you for being a Rotarian with the Sunrise Club.
