Guest Speakers: -  Paula Reamue Zimmer, Becky Elgie & Sherri Keller

Paul Reaume Zimmer gave an overview of the Mobile Mental Health Crisis Team.

This initiative was sparked by the tragic death of a young man in 1992, who was shot by the police.

A video by Sergeant Jim Biskey of the Chatham-Kent Police Service provided an overview of the development of the program in the year 2000. He researched and found a leading model for a crisis team in Memphis Tennessee.

The model is based on a partnership between police and various Mental Health agencies in the community. There is 40 hours of training provided to certain members of the department.

The police respond to the call to ensure that is safe. The crisis nurse works with the police to assess the person and direct the individual to the appropriate resources. This sometime involves admitting the individual to the hospital.

Becky Elgie R.N and constable Sherri Keller members of the Mobile Crisis Team described the benefits of the partnership for the individual in crisis.

The education and training has been a great benefit to the program.

President Jim thanked the speakers for their very enlightening presentation.

Closing:

The Canadian National Anthem.
