GUEST
SPEAKER - Rob Browning |
|
Jim
introduced our guest today,
Rob Browning, the new (2
weeks & 2 days into the job)
CAO for Chatham Kent. Rob
comes with 30 years
experience in public service
& is also a Rotarian. His
2 daughters are pursuing
careers in nursing &
teaching, while his partner
Kathy is currently seeking
employment in the area.
She’s in Kitchener now, as a
Development Officer, and
runs the Kitchener Market.
She hopes to join him
eventually in their new home
in Blenheim. Welcome, Rob!
Rob
spoke of his bio briefly,
talking about his upbringing
north of Orillia, his
positions with the Fire Dept
& upwards into Management &
Development. His message is
to be positive, proactive &
solve the problems as they
occur. He likes to make
things happen, to see change
& growth.
He
feels his job is to build
the community a valued
component for the tax
payers. He’s here to
build trust in the
communities & to deliver a
high level of service that’s
timely, of quality &
friendly. He likens our
amalgamated community to his
previous experience in
Sudbury.
He sees
the need to attract & retain
the manufacturing jobs. But
also we need to shift to
meet the needs of the
knowledge economy that’s up
& coming with the nexus
generation. We have to
make our economy diverse.
He likes the sense of
community & spirit that he
has seen, since joining
us. Some aspects of
Chatham Kent are very
understated (our waterfront,
land values for investment
for example). Rob is very
much looking forward to
being in Chatham Kent.
Ivan
thanked Rob for his time
with us today, offering a
Literary Angels book about
canoeing.

Our
Sunrise Trail and
Carolinian Forest: |
|
Paul Roy sent some photos
which he took today....
Thanks Paul!
If
you are driving along Grand,
you will note that the
grasses are coming
along...and we are starting
to see the ground cover
Lamium
It will look better in the
years to come. Our daffodils
will be back in April.
And
our Carolinian trees are
growing...and showing good
fall colours!!! ( across
from St Clair College)
