 Ivan Katzman introduced Chuck Scott.

Chuck is a retired employee of IBM. He is a member of Kiwanis, and involved with St. Paul’s United church. He has been involved in Fair Trade for the last 4 years.

Chuck Scott provided an overview of the fair trade; The intent is to provide increased support to production in the 3rd world. It puts people and partnerships at the forefront.

The principles of fair trade include:

-fair prices to producers

-buying directly from producers-pay in advance of up to 50% to allow producers to buy seeds, tools and materials

-promotes environmental concerns in production

-shares profits with producers

-works with democratic organizations like co-ops that promote self-help groups

Chuck Scott’s phone number is 519-352-0464 or csott@ciaccess.com if anyone is interested in further information.

Chuck also brought a display of coffee, tea, and chocolate bars available for purchase.
