Kiwanis, and involved with
St. Paul’s United church. He
has been involved in Fair
Trade for the last 4 years.
Chuck
Scott provided an overview
of the fair trade; The
intent is to provide
increased support to
production in the 3rd
world. It puts people and
partnerships at the
forefront.
The principles of fair trade
include:
-fair
prices to producers
-buying
directly from producers-pay
in advance of up to 50% to
allow producers to buy
seeds, tools and materials
-promotes environmental
concerns in production
-shares
profits with producers
-works
with democratic
organizations like co-ops
that promote self-help
groups
