Good morning Greetings from President Bonny!

The Four Way Test:

Is it the Truth?

Is it Fair to All Concerned?

Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?

Is it Beneficial to All Concerned?

 Visitors and Guests:

Lotti, who’s just returned from a skiing trip in BC & Alberta

Wesley, who’s just returned from a Rotary trip to New York, Boston & Washington – heard that he’s tired of fast food.  Cool hat – must be from New York!

 Happy Bucks:

Audrey’s happy – they’re selling tickets to the public, for the Three Men & A Tenor entertainment for the District Conference. Proceeds to eradicate polio.  See Club Presidents in the District for tickets, $20 – a sweet deal!

Jim offers a $1 to the Roses Committee for their perseverance & due diligence

John L was the lucky buyer at Mardi gras for the year’s worth of Roses – he received his first dz from Linda last week & they’re great!

Linda is happy to be looking for the next sets’ of host families as we move into preparing for inbound exchange students.

Stephen H is happy to reach the end of this year’s ringette season.  His player went to Oshawa (notably sponsored by Sunrise Rotary) where the local teams brought home 2 silvers & a bronze.    Medal lanyards mentioned the Whitby Rotary Club as a major sponsor.

Jim Nash won $10 for lunch

We’re glad to learn that Max’s surgery went well and the doctors are happy.   Not as extensive as anticipated, although lasting for 6 hours.

Also, to mention Keith Koke who has been moved out of intensive care.

Please keep these gentlemen in your thoughts.

Correspondence:

A message from the Chernobyl Children’s’ Fund, thanking us for our donation.  They will be hosting 40 children again this summer, making Chatham Kent the largest Chernobyl hosting program in Canada.

Initiation - Rick Carnell:

Our newest member, Rick Carnell was officially inducted today.  Sponsored by Bonny & Jackie, Audrey led the induction & gave a warm welcome to Rick.  We’re glad to have you with us & that you’ve chosen to continue your Rotary membership with the Chatham Sunrisers.

ROSES – orders due today.  Terra needs to give the buyer a final number by Tuesday.  Pls get your “best guesses” to her soon.  There will be a work evening April 8 (times to be finalized yet as we don’t know the roses pickup time) as well as the big delivery day, including lunch at the Portuguese Hall.

There will be some extra roses ordered.  But to ensure your colour choice, don’t wait!

Club Business:

  • Business After Hours for the Chamber of Commerce went well – Thanks to Ivan, Jackie, Jim & Laurie & Sheila for assistance.  Sold 12 dz roses!
  • Media Event at Tapas Restaurant went well – thank you to those who attended.
  • 10 year Evening at Retro Suites, March 28 – doors open at 6pm, dinner at 7.  Video will be shown & copies available thru Roger, $10 each. Encourage & invite prospective members, friends, members of the Downtown club (our sponsors)
  • Club Bylaws & a Gift Acceptance Policy have been circulated by email. Mention of source was Rotary International, should be Canadian-ized for our Service Club bylaws & charitable receipt status as well.  Will be posted on the web upon final approval.
  • An income statement for the General & Service Accounts was circulated.  Some questions arose & will be responded to at next opportunity.  Key to the bottom line is we are knee-deep in our Roses campaign.   There is a $6000 commitment to Books for Babies, and for other causes like the MRI Campaign.
  • Suggestion to advise members of their current Annual Program status. Audrey mentioned any more funds should be received by the end of April, in order to meet targets for a Paul Harris in this current club year.
  • Quarterly invoices will be out next week – pls pay promptly.
  • Jackie has covers for the bingo on April 4 & the 9th – thanks to new member Rick (yeah!) Jackie, Steve Pickard, Linda & Doug.
  • We are joint sponsors for a speaker series “Developing a Healthy Community” with the YMCA, commencing on April 3 with Dr Kellie Leitch.   Our meeting on April 1 will be re-scheduled to April 3, in honour of this event, held at the Portuguese Canadian Club on Grand Ave East. Sunriser website has details for registration.
